Unconditional Landing is a type of extension of stay, granted to a foreign national that allows them to live in Jamaica while being able to attend school or work without having to obtain a student visa or a work permit, respectively.
It is a stamp placed in a foreign passport that allows the holder to remain in Jamaica, unconditionally. This stamp expires, when the holder’s foreign passport expires after which, a transfer of the stamp from the expired passport to the new passport is required.
If an application is being submitted for a minor and the parent(s)/legal guardian are overseas, they are required to grant written permission to another adult to apply for unconditional landing for their child. The letter must state “apply for unconditional landing” and not state “conduct business on their behalf”. This formal letter should be notarized by a Notary Public overseas where they are and a copy of their valid Government issued ID should also be notarized.
